Assignment – Introduction to PCR
One task of the Cellular Biology course I took in my junior year was to prepare an English oral speech on topics we’d learned. I chose polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as my topic and gave a successful presentation. Here is the PPT and videos used at that time.
Using Dynamic Light Scattering
Operating DLS is a tedious task, esp. avoiding dust and ensuring ideal dispersion. To practice, I use commercial monodispersed 300nm PS beads as sample. The instrument was a Brookhaven BI-200 SM. The microspheres used was 300 nm PS bead in 10% (PS02N/5378) from Bangs Laboratories.
After repeated practice of dilution and filtration for a month I could achieve reasonable and reproducible result of the size distribution, i.e. around 300 nm.
